Dutch transfer killer whale Morgan to Spain (AP)

AMSTERDAM ? A Dutch dolphin park hoisted a young killer whale onto a truck early Tuesday, preparing to transfer her to a Spanish amusement park after conservationists lost a legal battle to have her released into the open sea.

Early in the morning, the 1,400 kilogram (3,085 pound) female orca named Morgan was lifted by crane, where she was resting in a hammock that restrains her movement and protects her fins. Trainers kept her wet during the transfer into a tank on the truck.

Her container was to be put in a plane and flown to the Spanish island of Tenerife, where she will be transferred again to her new home in Loro Parque, said spokesman Bert van Plateringen.

The city of Harderwijk issued an emergency ban blocking "Free Morgan" demonstrations during the transfer, though a coalition of conservationists who sought to have her released said they have no plans to interfere in the operation.

"We would never do anything that could endanger Morgan," said coalition spokeswoman Nancy Slot.

Morgan, who is estimated to be about 3 years old, weighed only 400 kilograms (880 pounds) when she was rescued in shallow waters off the Dutch North Sea coast in June 2010.

The Dutch government permit that originally approved her capture said the dolphinarium could hold her and restore her health so she could be released. But after the park assembled a team of experts for advice on what to do next, it found she had little chance of survival in the wild unless her natal pod, or family, could be identified.

Analysis of her vocal patterns showed only that she was from Norwegian waters.

Opposing experts for the "Free Morgan" group said the dolphinarium was guided by financial interests, rather than concern for the animal's well-being.

International treaties prohibit the trade of killer whales ? which are actually classified as oceangoing dolphins ? without difficult-to-obtain exemption permits. Fewer than 50 orcas are held in captivity worldwide and the bulk of them are owned by SeaWorld, a subsidiary of U.S. private equity giant The Blackstone Group L.P.

A female capable of breeding and introducing new genes into the pool of captive orcas is worth millions of euros (dollars).

The Dutch Dolphinarium is owned by France's Compagnie des Alpes. Loro Parque, owned by a German businessman, received its four orcas on loan from SeaWorld. Though Morgan cannot be transferred to the United States, any offspring she may have can be.

The Harderwijk Dolphinarium, which put Morgan on display after her rescue, has not disclosed financial details of her shipment to Loro Parque, though Van Plateringen said it is not profiting from the deal.

Orcas are thought to be among the most intelligent and social of mammals, and the idea of reintroducing captive whales into the wild garnered widespread public sympathy after the 1993 film "Free Willy."

Real life releases have a mixed record at best, however. Keiko, the animal that starred in "Free Willy" was released in Icelandic waters after 20 years in captivity. He died, apparently of pneumonia, after surviving two months on his own and swimming about 870 miles (1,400 kilometers) to Norway.

Though the "Free Morgan Coalition" says it will continue to seek Morgan's release, they concede her transfer to Spain is a major blow to their hopes.

Experts agree that the less time the animals are exposed to humans the better their chances of survival in the wild.

Justin Bieber Tops Kim Kardashian As Bing's Most-Searched Person

Bieber overtakes last year's champ on search engine's annual list of the year's most-Binged people.

Having already bested Lady Gaga in the race to 2 billion YouTube views, Justin Bieber can now lay claim to another e-title: He's just been named the year's most-searched person on Internet search engine Bing, edging out his old pal Kim Kardashian for the title.

Yes, Bieber sits atop Bing's annual list of the most-searched people of 2011, making the leap from #6 on last year's list and knocking Kardashian down from the top spot, which she held last year. Jennifer Aniston came in at #3 on the list (up from #9 in 2010), and a whole host of other females — including Lindsay Lohan, Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears, Lady Gaga and Miley Cyrus — round out the top 10.

Bieber was the only male to make Bing's most-searched people list, which last year featured Jesse James, Michael Jackson, Tiger Woods and Barack Obama (who plummeted from #5 to #49 in 2011 ... always a good sign in the lead-up to an election) in the top 10. Also dropping out of the top 10 were actress Sandra Bullock and reality TV mother-of-the-year Kate Gosselin.

Not surprisingly, Bieber also tops Bing's list of most-searched musicians ... and not surprisingly, he's also the only male to make the top 10. JB bested Katy Perry to take the top spot, followed by Jennifer Lopez, Britney Spears and Lady Gaga. Bieber's girlfriend Selena Gomez made the list at #6, just ahead of Nicki Minaj, Rihanna, Beyoncé and Taylor Swift.

Republican Presidential Candidates on Immigration (ContributorNetwork)

According to a Gallup poll, when Americans were asked if they thought immigration should be maintained at the present level, increased or decreased, 78 percent responded that it should be decreased or maintained. The survey concluded that although Americans generally have positive views toward immigration, most favor reducing it.

Given this context, the Republicans candidates seeking the presidential nomination were asked during the most recent GOP debate what their views were on immigration and border security.

Here is what they said:

* Ron Paul: "If you subsidize something or give people incentives, you get more of it. So if you give easy road to citizenship, you're going to have more illegals ... mandating to the states and to Texas that we have to provide free medical care and free education, that's a great burden. It's a great burden to California and all the border states. So I would say eliminate all these benefits and talk about eliminating the welfare state because it's detrimental not only to here but the people that come because that's the incentive to bring their families with them."

* Herman Cain: "No. 1, we know that terrorists have come into this country by way of Mexico. Secondly, 40 percent of the people in Mexico, according to a survey, already believe that their country is a failed state. Thirdly, the number of people killed in Mexico last year equals the number of people killed in Afghanistan and Iraq combined. So yes, so let's solve the whole problem. No. 1, secure the border for real. No. 2, enforce the laws that are already there. We don't need new laws. No. 3, promote the current path to citizenship. Clean up the bureaucracy in Washington, D.C., so people can come through the front door instead of sneaking in the side door. And No. 4, to deal with the illegals that are already here, empower the states to do what the federal government is not capable of doing."

* Newt Gingrich: "Einstein came here as an immigrant. So let's be clear how much the United States has drawn upon the world to be richer, better and more inclusive. ? So I think you've got to deal with this as a comprehensive approach that starts with controlling the border. ? I believe ultimately you have to find some system ? which includes the guest worker program, you need something like a World War II Selective Service Board that, frankly, reviews the people who are here. If you've come here recently, you have no ties to this country, you ought to go home. If you've been here 25 years and you got three kids and two grandkids, you've been paying taxes and obeying the law, you belong to a local church, I don't think we're going to separate you from your family, uproot you forcefully and kick you out."

* Mitt Romney: "Certainly we have to secure the border. And we talk about people who have been here 25 years, that is the extreme exception. ??? I'm not going to start drawing lines here about who gets to stay and who get to go. The principle is that we are not going to have an amnesty system that says that people who come here illegally get to stay for the rest of their life in this country legally."

LSU, Alabama clear 1 and 2 in AP poll

(AP) ? The voters in The Associated Press college football poll are clear on which two teams they believe are the best in the country.

LSU is the unanimous No. 1 for a third consecutive week and Alabama received all the second-place votes for a second straight week.

The SEC West powers are on course for a rematch in the BCS championship game on Jan. 9 in New Orleans.

Oklahoma State moves up to No. 3 on an off week, taking advantage of Arkansas' tumble from No. 3 to No. 6 after the Razorbacks lost 41-17 at LSU on Friday.

Stanford is No. 4, just five points behind Oklahoma State. Virginia Tech is No. 5.
